While doing survey and working for small family norm project our staff provides information and make the people aware about AIDS and HIV. In the red light area, and the crowded place near by our institute we have observed many HIV or AIDS effected people are badly treated by family members and society. Due to limited knowledge of this disease, infected people are thrown on footpath. Hence there is a vast need to provided proper information and have door to door counselling services.
STREET CHILDREN'S PROJECT:
Nagpada Neighbourhood House run this project. These children are staying on footpath. They work with their elders or begging near the traffic signal. Sometimes they collect the waste pieces of clothes from tailors shop and then they sort clothes and canvas. Canvas which sale again and they get amount for that. So we have started street children project for these children.
The aim of the project is to provide them basic education and to develop their born skill. Also to provide basic needs like food, clothing, health facility and nutrition. We do provide them earning skills and trained to stand on their own feet. Also we try to teach them good manners and attitudes, like respect, genies, understanding, forgiving, obeying and jovial nature.
At present we have around 74 children under this project. Two Crèche Nurses and one teacher are helping them, One Aya-cum-cook is appointed for children. Street children project is open from Monday to Friday 10.00am to 4.30pm. We arranged mothers meeting every month to discuss problems and to find solution related to their children. We celebrate festivals, national days to improve the value of unity and to respect each others religion. This project functions on the basic of awareness, motivations and education.
